Full Campus Lighting Retrofit

Northeastern is conducting its fifth campus-wide lighting project by replacing the existing fluorescent light fixtures with LED fixtures that integrate occupancy and daylight harvesting controls. These new LED fixtures will reduce electricity consumption by 50% and save three million kWh annually or over 3% of total electricity use on the Boston Campus. In addition to better lighting and cost savings, this project will save 700 MTCE of greenhouse gases, helping Northeastern reach our sustainability goals.

This project is taking advantage of advances in technology that allows for every lighting fixture to have its own sensor through wireless connections.  The individual sensors allow for networked lighting controls that enable flexibility for occupant control of lighting levels, as well as occupancy sensing, and dimming based on availability of natural light.
