Biking is a great way to exercise and save money on your commute to campusYour safety and convenience are important to Northeastern, as we provide bike racks throughout campus and offer bike registration through the NUPDThere is also the convenience of Boston’s bike share program with BlueBikes for those who want the flexibility it offers. Biking is a more sustainable and healthy way to travel compared to driving.

Northeastern's Interactive Bike Infrastructure

This interactive bicycle infrastructure map shows the locations of bike racks, bike repair stations, and bike-share stations on the Northeastern Campus.

Bike Registration

Northeastern University Police Department offers students and faculty a FREE bicycle registration service.

Bike Repair Stations

The University features a self-service bike-repair station located underneath the archway near the north tower of West Village A. Residents of East Village have exclusive access to a bike-repair station within the residence.

MBTA Bicycle Commuting

The MBTA offers many options for those wishing to use their bicycle while commuting to work.

Mass BIKE

The Massachusetts Bicycle Coalition promotes a bicycle – friendly environment and encourages bicycling for fun, fitness, and transportation.

Boston Bikes

A city wide initiative promoting education and induction into the City’s biking community.

Bluebikes program

Northeastern partners with the City of Boston’s Blue Bikes bicycle share system to provide discounted annual memberships. The Annual membership for Northeastern affiliates is $101.50 / year, a 24% reduction over the regular membership cost.
To enroll, visit the Blue Bikes website on your computer, click “Join”, select “I’m eligible for a Group/Corporate Discount” and choose “Northeastern University.” Enter program code “HUSKY.” Please note, the registration page might not work properly on mobile devices. 

Blue Bike stations in or around campus include:

  • North Lot, Columbus Ave (near Renaissance Park Garage)
  • Columbus Ave (near the corner of Mass Ave)
  • Mass Ave (near the Christian Science Center)
  • Forsyth St. (near Huntington Ave)
  • Parker Street (near West Village H and Huntington Ave)- Temporarily closed due to construction for the summer of 2024

Bike storage information

Columbus Garage
Anyone with an active NU ID can access the indoor bike lock storage at Columbus Garage on the lower level.

Renaissance Park Garage
There’s also secure indoor bike storage inside Renaissance Park Garage.

East Village & ISEC
Bike lock rooms in East Village and ISEC are only available to building residents.
