Planning, Real Estate, and Facilities - Oakland

Shaping and caring for Northeastern’s Oakland campusĀ

In Oakland’s vibrant, tight-knit community, every space on our historic campus is designed with care to spark collaboration, inspire discovery, and strengthen connections among our students, faculty, and staff, as well as with the surrounding Bay Area community.

Northeastern’s Planning, Real Estate, and Facilities (PREF) team plans, creates, and maintains these spaces. We are part of Northeastern’s broader PREF division and share its mission, but our work reflects our unique spirit, people, and culture.

This site is your resource for all things PREF Oakland. We invite you to learn more about how we support your campus experience and help nurture the close community that makes Oakland such a special part of Northeastern’s global network.

Statement of land recognitionĀ

Oakland sits in the territory of Huichin, part of the ancestral land of the Chochenyo Muwekma Ohlone, the successors of the historic and sovereign Verona Band of Alameda County. Ā

We acknowledge the land and labor of the Ohlone people, whose connection to this land we remember, and whose presence—past, present, and future—we respect. As part of Northeastern Oakland’s mission of supporting and fostering learning through the generation and dissemination of knowledge, we acknowledge that the land we are on is the original homeland of Ohlone people.Ā
